Showing up for school when you’re not the primary home

Schools often default to one contact. Ask politely to be listed as a parent with access to portals, report cards, and emergency info. Bring a copy of your order if the district requires it.

Arrive early to events, sit where your child can find you, and keep adult drama off campus. If both parents attend, a brief nod is enough — the performance is not the place for logistics.

Celebrate privately afterward: ice cream, a voice note, a photo for your timeline. Children remember who clapped, not who won the parking-lot stare-down.
